Jasmine Eavis - Textiles
Due to the continued pressure these days to stack and recycle plastic / card / tin to avoid waste, working part time as lecturer in art and running an applied art workshop, it seemed natural to emphasise recycled textles to students and successfully create new art from second hand.
The variety of colourful fabrics used are found in charity shops. Fun floral vintage furnishing fabric or 80s prints/geometrics or floral bold prints help inspire / funk up the original use, bringing dated up to date. I keep a keen eye out for unusual buttons/beads or sequins which are recycled from old dresses, skirts and shirts. The logos I use originate from an endless list such as the "crowns" from carlsberg larger and cats from "whiskers" cat food pouches, the British flag from bags of spinach, the lion quality from egg boxes, GB from coke cans or the Queens emblem on Tonic cans and deeply delicious from pizza boxes! I find unique inspiration for my recycled textile designs in countless everyday items.
The results of my inspirational blend of recycled textiles are individual, utterly unique gifts at fantastic affordable prices. A wide a variety of brooches including Medals, Arrows, Butterflies, Moths and Hearts; to larger collections in boxed frames "The after eight" collection or "Festival butterflies" or words such as "Love", "Welcome Friends" and more. All work is signed on the back for the brooches and hand signed on the box frames. Please Click the images to display a larger image.
